Class Is Permanent

"Class Is Permanent" is a phrase which is heard to be used more and more often in terms of praise of almost any printworthy player or team and fast becoming a modern day cliché. But events at Ibrox stadium on a Friday evening late in March 2012 were a sharp reminder to those who band such superlatives around of what class really is.

Gracing the hallowed turf were an assortment of true greats of the modern day game, mixed well with some less well known local heroes of the Glaswegian and Milanese variety. Nonetheless what was witnessed by a remarkable crowd of 47,512 (once they were all in) was something special.

Although I knew exactly what was on offer long before the game, I had to pinch myself a few

Motherwell vs Rangers Preview - 31st March 2012

Match Preview:
Motherwell vs Rangers
12:00 31st March 2012
Fir Park

Rangers make the trip to Motherwell this weekend to meet Stuart McCall’s Motherwell in a match that, due to Rangers 10 point deduction, is pivotal in the battle for second place in the SPL.

Coming off the back of a 3-2 derby day win, a score that flattered the ‘Gers Old Firm rivals, Ally McCoist’s men will be looking to improve on their somewhat faltering form of recent weeks while Motherwell will be searching to for a strong finish to what has, so far, been a tremendous season for the Steelmen despite their loss to Kilmarnock last weekend.
Inverted Wingers and Rangers

A few things really get the blue portion of the internet angry. Football phone-ins, Neil Lennon and players being played out of position. Even Walter Smith got the treatment for his love of players out of position. Davis at RM and Lafferty at LM spring to mind as provoking heated debate on the forums. This resumed when Ally took charge but it took on a different form. The biggest uproar centred on Celik, Aluko, Wylde and Naismith and which wing they were played on. Our lack of creativity was linked to inverting our wingers and this was seen as proof of Ally's poor management. Today I'll try and convince you that inverted wingers are a good thing and that using them doesn't mean Ally is a bad manager. But that he's still got a lot to learn.

Pride

It’s very rare for me to sit and reminisce over a game of football but that is exactly what I have been doing for the last couple of days. I have been going over Sundays Old Firm clash in my head again and again and on a few occasions have tried to put it into writing but my emotions have been all over the place since the final whistle and it has just not been possible until now. I have let the dust settle now though and I heard all the knee jerk reactions and conspiracy theories that have been thrown about since the game and not one of them has even slightly dented the pride I have felt in the group of men who represented Rangers Football Club on Sunday afternoon.

Old Firm games are special. That is just common sense for anyone who associates themselves

The Lost Generation

I've gotten used to looking at the big picture with Rangers. So little focus has been on the pitch, instead we've all become amateur accountants as the finances finally collapsed. I'm not too sure what the best formation would be for our current squad but I definitely know the benefits of a NewCo. Our forum is currently filled with talk of liquidation, administration and revenue streams rather than tactics and players.

Today though one thing brought me down from this view back to football and I really wish it hadn't. At the time of writing we're unsure of who is going to be made redundant at the club. A leaked list suggested some names which included Alexander, McCulloch, Broadfoot, Papac. Other rumours have suggested Edu, Whittaker as well as Durrant,

Rangers vs Hearts Preview

Rangers will hope to improve their home form in tomorrow's battle of the financially stricken at Ibrox, where Rangers take on Hearts at 3pm. With there still no news on redundancies but rumours flying around all the time about job cuts, wage cuts and liquidation, football is again just a distraction. Ibrox is almost completely sold out and there will no doubt be yet another fantastic atmosphere from the Rangers support.

Northern Irish youngsters Andrew Mitchell and Christopher Hegarty are included in the match day squad for the first time, but whether they make it into the 18 players who go out will be a different matter. Rhys McCabe is another youngster who will join fellow youngsters Ross Perry, Gregg Wylde and Kane Hemmings in the squad.
How We Got Played

Before we answer the question of how Craig Whyte pulled off an apparent daylight robbery on the biggest football club in Scotland, it would be useful to rewind 12 months and remind ourselves of the events that set the scene for it.

A year ago, Rangers were still controlled by Sir David Murray, owner of Murry International Holdings who held the 85% stake in the club that Whyte would later acquire for one Pound Sterling. Alistair Johnston was the chairman of the board albeit on a seemingly part time basis. He conducted his club business for the most part from his Ohio offices and his reassurances that he was in daily contact with the club were far from convincing. Martin Bain was the man running the show and drawing a massive salary from the club for

Inverness Caley Thistle vs Rangers Match Preview

Another week when football is the least of Rangers Football Clubs worries, but nevertheless there is a match that Rangers must win in Inverness tomorrow. Gordon Smith and Ali Russell left the club midweek, but as of yet there has been no cuts to the playing staff at Ibrox, although Aussie international Matt McKay is set to jet out to South Korea before their transfer window closes. However, that won't really make much of a difference to Rangers, as the Australian Player of The Year has played just 3 times for Rangers since his summer move.

More worrying football news for Rangers, is the news that Kyle Lafferty will be out for another 4-6 weeks, while on-loan Arsenal defender Kyle Bartley has been ruled out for a month, amidst rumours that his loan deal

This Is A War Cry

This is not a match thread. This is a war cry.

Rangers Football Club is without any shadow of a doubt one of the biggest teams in the world but over the last 3 or 4 years it has been taking a beating on the financial side of things.

This week it looked like a knockout blow had been landed when the club was plunged into Administration as it struggles to deal with crippling debts. It was a bitter blow that would have seen many a club and its support call it a day and throw in the towel, and that is exactly what many where expecting us to do. There seems to be something that our gloating enemies have forgotten over the last few days though….

This is the most successful football

Rangers - CVA's & Liquidation (what it means for us) - A Layman's Explanation

Over the past (gut wrenchingly painful) nine months or so, Craig Whyte (CW), Chairman of Rangers Football Club has stated on many occasions that administration was NOT plan A, B or C. I think all fans of the club are now aware that it was his ONLY plan.

How do I feel about this? Bearing in mind that the club is crippled with millions of pounds worth of debt and simply cannot afford to honour all creditors of the club - open minded at the moment to be honest.

Administration in a nutshell:

In our case administration has came about in two ways “Voluntary notice of intent of administration” and a court ordering the club to appoint our own Administrators OR run
