Well, it's happening a year later than expected but this season will be the season that Murray Park is deemed a success or failure.

With the loss of Boyd, Beasley, Novo and Thomson this year the squad will be supplemented by youth, even though it has been said that there is some money to spend.

A bullet may have been dodged when Chris Eagles decided he had no ambition. A player that has failed all expectations since he was heralded as the next best thing as a Manchester United youth. This could have been his chance to play for a big team but now the best he can hope for is a team vying for promotion or a team struggling against relegation. He also has a dodgy haircut.

Youngsters Fleck and Wilson stepped up last year with the latter putting in some commanding performances. This season we will see more of Fleck but we cannot be so sure of Wilson. Wilson decided not to rush into signing a contract and with interest from other clubs could be away before the new season starts.

It will be down to the other youngsters this year to make up the numbers and make a name for themselves.

Kind Bendiksen made his debut against Queen of the South and hopefully we can see more of the 20 year old "wonderkid" who's been on the books since 2007.

McMillan recently signed a new contract and hopefully we'll get to see him play this season too.

A lot has been said about losing Thomson and what it means for the club. What it means is what we all know, we have no money and every player has his price. We are a selling club.

This is obviously not the best situation in the world but if Murray Park proves itself this season there may be hope of following an Ajax model for the coming years.
