    Rangers vs Hibernian
    Ibrox Stadium
    Clydesdale Bank Premier League
    28th January 2012
    Kick Off – 15:00

Rangers will be hoping to put a halt to the recent depression that has been surrounding the club over the last few months when they welcome a relegation threatened Hibs to Ibrox Stadium.

Too many points have been dropped in recent weeks which have seen the Gers give up a sizeable lead in the title race to now trail leaders Celtic by 4 points.

New boy Mervan Celik could make his first appearance for the club tomorrow if selected and he could be exactly what is needed if he lives up to the hype that has surrounded him since his signing. Gregg Wylde has struggled badly for form this term and despite some decent displays, Lee Wallace is not the answer to Rangers left wing so it could be a good time for Mervan to come into the side and try and cement down a place in the side.

Rangers will be without Steven Naismith, Steven Whittaker and Kirk Broadfoot for the game, the latter two meaning that Kyle Bartley will probably be deployed in the right back position again due to Rangers inability to conclude a deal with Estonian free agent Enar Jaager after a successful trial with the club.

Kyle Lafferty and Kane Hemmings both miss out as well through injury which means that David Healy will be given another chance to show what he can do but he will have to up is game dramatically from recent performances if he is going to try and stake a permanent spot in the side.

Nikica Jelavic looks like he will be remaining a Rangers player, for this game anyway, so he will spearhead the Rangers attack yet again as they aim to help the side back to winning ways.

Champions Rangers take on Aberdeen at Ibrox tomorrow afternoon in what is another important fixture, especially with Celtic playing in the early afternoon fixture. Our form has slightly improved recently and the fans will be expecting that to continue.

Tomorrow will also be the fans' farewell to Rangers legend Davie Weir. Weir is not expected to play but a halftime or fulltime appearance would satisfy the home crowd. Weir came to the club has a stop-gap but went on to captain the club, win eight trophies, a player of the year award and was inducted into Rangers’ hall of fame. He is arguably the best captain since Richard Gough.

This bear certainly considers Weir as the best captain since Richard Gough. The consummate professional and epitome of a Rangers captain, Weir had it all. He leaves Rangers with great memories and the best wishes of fans across the globe.

The build-up to this weekend’s game has seen the usual stories float around. Although this time we could be nearing closure on the tax case as we await the tribunal’s verdict. The lack of prophesising from the East End hordes would suggest they are every bit as nervous as we are but for different reasons.

Of course, we also have one director resigning, a new non-executive director coming aboard and former CEO, Martin Bain, appearing to step back slightly in his own case against the club.

There has also been transfer activity with the Singing of Mervan Celik, trialists trying to win their place at Rangers and Jelavic strongly rumoured to be leaving.

In fact, tomorrow could be Jelavic’s last game for Scotland’s most successful club, so one last blinder would be a great way of seeing him off.

Allan McGregor is fit again and back in the squad and Fleck being loaned out to Blackpool it would seem that Healy will start again up front.

When we kick off tomorrow we could be looking to close the gap or regain top spot but, whatever the scenario, we expect the lads to go out and win three points with a polished performance. This is the first of three home games on the trot which is an incentive to make opponents fear coming to Ibrox once more.

Rangers travel to Gayfield tomorrow to take on Scottish Second Division side Arbroath in the Scottish Cup. A windy day in Arbroath will ensure a tough match for Rangers, and they will need to be at their best even if playing a side two divisions below them.

Injury-hit Rangers are without Kyle Lafferty Steven Whittaker, Kirk Broadfoot, Steven Davis, Lee McCulloch while Alejandro Bedoya and Nikica Jelavic are doubts for the Scottish Cup 4th round clash. It could mean chances are handed to fringe players Jordan McMillan, Matt McKay, John Fleck, David Healy or Kyle Hutton. Ally McCoist is likely to go with his strongest possible side in the game, with the Scottish Cup his only chance of a Cup final after the earlier League Cup defeat to Falkirk.

Paul Sheerin also has his own injury worries, with backup goalkeeper Michael White was ruled out, leaving Sheerin having to recall Darryl Burns from a loan spell in junior football to cover for his first choice keeper. Also missing for Arbroath are 20 year old former Dundee Utd striker Jordan Elfverson.

Rangers are expected to put a number of goals past Arbroath and put themselves into the Scottish Cup 5th round.

    The team I would play:

    Alexander
    McMillan Bartley Bocanegra Wallace
    Edu Hutton
    Aluko Fleck McKay
    Jelavic

My Predicted team that McCoist will play is:
