Champions Rangers take on Aberdeen at Ibrox tomorrow afternoon in what is another important fixture, especially with Celtic playing in the early afternoon fixture. Our form has slightly improved recently and the fans will be expecting that to continue.
Tomorrow will also be the fans' farewell to Rangers legend Davie Weir. Weir is not expected to play but a halftime or fulltime appearance would satisfy the home crowd. Weir came to the club has a stop-gap but went on to captain the club, win eight trophies, a player of the year award and was inducted into Rangers’ hall of fame. He is arguably the best captain since Richard Gough.
This bear certainly considers Weir as the best captain since Richard Gough. The consummate professional and epitome of a Rangers captain, Weir had it all. He leaves Rangers with great memories and the best wishes of fans across the globe.
The build-up to this weekend’s game has seen the usual stories float around. Although this time we could be nearing closure on the tax case as we await the tribunal’s verdict. The lack of prophesising from the East End hordes would suggest they are every bit as nervous as we are but for different reasons.
Of course, we also have one director resigning, a new non-executive director coming aboard and former CEO, Martin Bain, appearing to step back slightly in his own case against the club.
There has also been transfer activity with the Singing of Mervan Celik, trialists trying to win their place at Rangers and Jelavic strongly rumoured to be leaving.
In fact, tomorrow could be Jelavic’s last game for Scotland’s most successful club, so one last blinder would be a great way of seeing him off.
Allan McGregor is fit again and back in the squad and Fleck being loaned out to Blackpool it would seem that Healy will start again up front.
When we kick off tomorrow we could be looking to close the gap or regain top spot but, whatever the scenario, we expect the lads to go out and win three points with a polished performance. This is the first of three home games on the trot which is an incentive to make opponents fear coming to Ibrox once more.
